1. Purpose
Define what the integration had to achieve: connect production equipment that spoke only machine language into a centralized monitoring station, remove the manual data-transfer workflow, and give technicians real-time visibility of the floor.
2. Rationale
The plant ran capable machines that were, from a data point of view, islands. Each produced information locally; getting it anywhere useful meant an operator copying it onto a USB stick and carrying it. That is slow, error-prone and blind between transfers: a fault or a material problem was known only when someone noticed, not when it happened. In a production environment that costs yield and time.
